Addressing mental health issues can be scary, especially for children and parents. With Cristian’s
calm guidance, individuals and families are encouraged to discuss their wants, needs, and fears,
which in turn helps to destigmatize the process. Cristian has an eclectic approach to counseling,
using cognitive behavioral therapy, brief solution focused therapy, and person-centered approach
that recognizes and respects the uniqueness of each individual he works with. Cristian is always
on the hunt for learning and finding more resources to help clients with creative therapeutic
approaches that makes therapy engaging. Cristian loves working with children and enjoys
helping them achieve their full potential.


Cristian Umana completed his master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lamar
University and has worked providing counseling in different setting including school, private
practice, and non-profits. Cristian has experience working with individuals and focus on trauma,
grief, behavioral issues, anxiety, depression, self-care, and other mental health challenges.


Cristian is as a bilingual clinician and provides mental health counseling in both Spanish and
English. Cristian also provides immigration evaluations for Extreme Hardship Waivers, VAWA
(domestic violence), U visa (victims of crime), T visa (forced labor), and Political asylum
through Catholic Charities.


Cristian believes that a strong relationship between counselor and client is the most essential tool
for change.
